Amy's Spring Makeover from Magnolias

After looking out our windows at the drab scenery, we are all anxious to add a little color to our homes! This can come in many forms. From the addition of vibrant accents like pillows, silk floral designs and fresh green foliage, to repainting rooms and updating window coverings. First up, the quick fix with color accents.

With some preparation, you could tackle a room or two in a couple of hours and add splashes of color to the space. Brighten, freshen, and pare back would be three key words that many customers tell me are the goals for this task. Before you start, here are my picks for the Spring and Summer season. Varying shades of orange, lime to citron green, turquoise blue. Whatever combo you choose, pick what makes you happy and feels uplifting. Don't be discouraged that your current decor colors can't be augmented with a strong color like this. With balanced placement of your new accent color, the eye will flow from one to the next, connecting it through the space and making the new color feel welcome!

Here is my Top 10 checklist To help you shop. You may have noticed our website is growing every day! We are adding items and categories as new items come in so below you will find a sampling of pages full of decor, and we are growing with Spring so there is more to come!

Group together items or make a list of what you already have to use. Here's what you may want to look for!
1 Accent pillows (See our new Pillow Page on our website here!) 2 Lighter weight woven or cotton throws
3 Candles & Candlesticks (See our new Candle & Accessories page here!) 4 Vases of assorted sizes (See our new Vases & Containers page here!) 5 Trays or low woven or metal baskets
6 Runners or tablecloths
7 Silk floral Centerpieces, accent swags & Door wreaths
8 Decorative balls, or colorful filler like realistic lemons, limes, green apples, moss balls
9 Clear Glass pieces to add color to bowls, vases, candlesticks (See our new Glass Accessories page here!)10 Area rugs for your seating spaces & front door

Fireplaces are especially fun! This is one of the main features in my friend Connie's home. You enter the front door and it makes a statement! After the holiday items were removed, there was no denying it... It was bland!

I know Connie loves poppies. I also know that here rich terra cotta and gold colors, paired with sage green needed to be livened up. Here's how we popped in some bright versions of those colors -Orange, lime and yellow!

The existing tray on the Ottoman got an update also. Take a look at the before look...

Connie has a great bunny collection and this orange pashmina shawl does the trick for balancing color opposite the fireplace!

Wall Decor Winners from Atlanta!

Since the walls in your home probably need a little update.. I’ve found some inspiration for you! There’s always an overwhelming amount of choices so, we have some fun stuff on the way in canvas, framed prints, clocks and these…. Glass balls of assorted sizes you can mount to the wall!!
Seems that color is everywhere.. Sure makes me feel better to see some. Fun canvas look:
And then .. An abundance of blue. I saw all shades and made sure to buy many options.

Chairs, Art, Pillows and HGTV's David Bromstadt

The whirlwind day!! It was a 12 hour one but man did I find some fun things!! We have our Christmas trees planned and ordered for next year thanks to our friends at Santas’ Own Tree Company. I’m loving this new soft green balsam pine with great layering and Staylit clear lights.
Then spent some time at Surya rugs. See my other FB posts for details and comment if you have a rug style or color that you’re looking for as I plan to bring in some new samples. And… I love their pillow line!! Need these for myself!
Spent some time looking at my fav accent furniture showrooms. I love this distressed Acacia cabinet with vintage mirrored accents. It’s a buffet that could work as a piece under a flat screen TV also.
Then…. The 3 pm seminar apparently EVERYONE was waiting for! David Bromstadt from HGTV Color Splash. This was standing room only while David charmed the Audience with his wit and color knowledge. And, what do you know, his favorite color is red too. This is a trend among celeb status decorators apparently!!! He admonished all attending to embrace color and use it wherever it makes you happy! The huge crowd didn’t make it easy to meet with him like I did last summer, but enjoyed the seminar anyway!!
A fun find in artwork .. It’s wood 3D piece just makes me smile!! Arriving soon
Because my husband Al is a pilot, I have been intrigued by all the cool furniture with the retro airplane pieced metal work that looks like a plane wing. This clock does it well without an overstatement..
Really unusual on chairs as well!
Next up.. More art purchases and lets hope I find some outdoor decor for our patio entertaining this summer! More tomorrow!!

Friday Funday in Atlanta, GA for Magnolias!

The eternal day! To make sure i get maximum  shopping time… The AmericaSmart in Atlanta was open from 8 to 8 today. And.. of course,  I maxed out my shopping day. First interview with home accents today, then more holiday at Allstate floral…
Love the inspiration here.. A top rate showroom with plenty of options for Magnolias!

So after a few hours of holiday buying , it was time for a break!  A Lunch break with fellow retail store owner friends Melissa  from Texas and Shannen from Minnesota . We enjoy catching up at markets to exchange ideas and shopping tips!
After that we tried a break over in the handmade and global design showrooms.  I found some really exciting scarves for Spring. These light and airy wardrobe accents support women working from home in India. I have several styles coming in Feb!
After that, decided to place an order of vintage style jewelry from an Atlanta area designer. Rhonda Smith. Her look, featuring antique French medals , reminded me of the signature pieces that my designer friend Heather wears. The kind of look that works with all your outfits and makes a statement.

Some home accents are on my list for Sat. I have a lot of art to buy and better focus. I did find a few things to start with,,,,,, like this clock from a Barrel Top
These showrooms know how to keep you interested late into the evening! Bridgewater candles always have a lot going on. I latched onto the newest scents Open Road and Fresh Air… Awesome scents for spring and summer. New!!…. Auto vent clips and I also order fragrance wafers to melt in your plug in wax burners.

There’s always a party going on at the Bridgewater showroom and yes… They were line dancing!
Finish my evening with a few inspiring color displays from the Privilege showroom …. Featuring the hottest colors for spring. Turquoise , orange and lime green.
Time for a glass of wine!! I’m exhausted! More tomorrow friends .. Stay tuned. I’ve gotta get more home accents done with art as well … Hitting the pillow!
Goodnight from Atlanta!
